Why Print Marketing Matters in 2014

shutterstock_136448264We are now living in a digital age, where it’s of the utmost importance to have an online presence. Not only is it imperative to have a website, but businesses must make themselves easy to find using social networks, as well as  having mobile-friendly digital spaces if they want to remain competitive. But with focus shifting to the online realm, where does printed marketing material stand? The short answer is, where it always has, at the forefront of your business. While many people have ditched the hard copy magazines and portfolio information in favour of digital products, there is still an important place for printed marketing collateral, and here’s why:

Face to face meetings with tangible references

The face to face meeting is still as important as it ever was, and when it comes to talking to clients about your business offerings, it’s still important to ‘wow’ them with takeaway marketing material that outlines what your business does best. At the end of the day, it will always give you an edge on your competitors if you can hand someone a hardcopy document in a meeting rather than directing them to your website via a link in an email.

Passing on your information

The business card is still an important piece of printed material every individual in your business needs. If you’re at a loud, crowded networking event trying to talk in someone’s ear to give them your details it doesn’t necessarily make the best first impression. When you can just hand over a business card that they will take out later, it leaves a professional impression.

Staying front of mind is easy

In the digital age, many people are sending everything online and pitching to clients using attachments in emails. While this is great and is to be expected, businesses that have something tangible that can be left at the reception deask or will remain on the table in the conference room for days after the meeting are sure to be front of mind. To have a digital presence is more important now than ever, but this doesn’t mean that you can neglect your printed marketing material. A healthy balance of both is what will set your company apart from the rest.
