The Wonders Of Modern Day Printing
Printing has a long and interesting history from the woodblock almost two millennia ago. As time has gone on technological advancements have become increasingly common and more regular. In particular, computerisation of printing has revolutionised printing services, making book printing services like print on demand a viable option.
A Very Brief History
Johannes Gutenberg’s invention of the printing press, using mechanical movable type, was a major breakthrough. The form of printing (letterpress printing) that it enabled flourished from its inception in the mid 15th century, right through until the second half of the 20th century.
Offset presses came along in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Offset printing is best suited for large high quality printing jobs, such as for newspapers.
